Shoji Hirano was born in Kobe, Japan, on June 29, 1973. He received the B. E. degree in Electronics in 1996, the M. E. degree in 1998, and the Ph. D. degree in 2001, all from Himeji Institute of Technology, Japan. He is currently a research associate in the Department of Medical Informatics, Shimane University School of Medicine.
