It’s been an immense pleasure to start my journey of higher study in Japan through the Department of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine, Shimane University. I have experienced Vascular Biology study, more specifically neuro-vascular pathology, and the role of oral microbiota on endothelial cell functions during my four year Ph.D. course. This is a great opportunity for me to understand the research quality of Japan, conduct research, and acquire knowledge of my research field by utilizing the enriched and well-organized laboratory facilities of Shimane University.
   As a student and short-term resident, I have found Izumo city to be a natural source of beauty, especially the cherry blossoms, the mountains, and the scenery of the clouds touching the mountains. That beam of light coming through the clouds seems to me a message from nature that whenever you face the hardest time or barrier, behind it there is the light of hope. Therefore, the natural beauty of Izumo is a motivational resource to me. I am fortunate for having experienced the different culture and traditions of the nice people of Shimane, mainly Izumo. Our Izumo host family, a nonprofitable organization, has made our life very comfortable in Izumo by exposing us to different cultural activities with Izumo residents. The politeness, helpfulness, and hospitality of Izumo people will always be memorable in my life.
   Shimane University is already one of the leading universities beyond Japan. It is contributing to the development of health care by conducting basic and clinical research for the betterment of human life. I anticipate the continued success of Shimane University and look forward to its increased contribution to global healthcare.
   For newcomers who would like to study on the Ph.D. or Master’s course, Shimane University can be a good choice as it is offering the time-demanding enriched health care education, and has well- equipped laboratory facilities for basic and clinical research. In addition, many local scholarships are available here.  For example, I received Furukawa, the Shimane International Center and Honors scholarship during my study along with my teaching assistantship. Finally, I believe that new students will find Shimane University with the adorable environment an ideal place of shaping their desired future career.
