Orthopaedic Surgery
Research Themes
- Pathologic clarification of knee ligament damage
- Establishment of cartilage restoration treatment using regenerative medicine and pathologic clarification of cartilage damage
Details
- There are times when even having stabilized the knee after reconstructive surgery, patients are subjected to fear and a feeling of looseness that they cannot shake. For this, we are conducting research that enables visualization of these subjective symptoms by identifying changes in intracerebral microvascular blood flow using functional MRI.
- In order to treat cartilage damage, we have developed a surgery of autologous cartilage culture transplantation, and carrying out both basic and clinical research, have achieved satisfactory results. In order to make cartilage restoration easier, we are currently engaged in joint research developing a treatment method that uses bone marrow-sourced mesenchymal stem cell (REC) scaffolded with high-purity alginic acid gel.
