Many incurable diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases, remain poorly understood at the molecular level. This laboratory focuses on “organelle contact sites” to deepen our understanding of these diseases. Organelle contact sites are regions where different organelles within a cell come into direct contact with one another, serving as highly dynamic structures responsible for the transmission of cellular information and the exchange of substances. By elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying abnormalities in organelle contact sites in various diseases, we aim to contribute to the development of future therapeutic strategies.
